It was a windy April day in Winston Salem, NC, and the blooming dogwood trees and azaleas filled the town with color and the sweet smell of spring when Brooks and Catherine tied the knot at Centenary Methodist Church. Centenary is a huge, majestic Cathedral of a church, and was the fitting backdrop for the 11 bridesmaids, 10 groomsmen, 3 flower girls, and proud pup who were in attendance of the happy couple.
Catherine was the most laid back bride, and was as relaxed as any bride I've ever met. The day started at the salon where the ladies got the royal treatment with hair and makeup at Studio 969, and then it was back to the Brookstone Inn, while the gentlemen prepared themselves with Cheerwine and Cuban cigars at the home of the groom, under the discerning and anxious eye of the couple's pup, Winston. Once everyone arrived at the church, everything was perfection from the countless candelabras to the huge bouquets of multicolored floral arrangements.
The couple and their bridal party rode in style from the church to the Forsyth Country Club on a beautiful Trolley car, where a casual dinner of sliders, quesadillas and other comfort food was complimented with fresh Krispy Cremes and an amazing almond flavored 4 tiered wedding cake. The 200+ guests danced the night away amongst dozens of candles and beautifully decorated ginger jars with fresh floral arrangements to the music of the Rise band. At the end of the night, the couple was showered with flower petals and was ushered off into the night in an antique 1966 Rolls Royce belonging to a friend of the family. I was so honored to cover this wedding, and had the added benefit of having my sweet aunt as my second shooter, and my cousin as an honored guest, so I got to spend quality family time while doing my job which brings me so much joy. There is nothing better than seeing two people who are so perfectly matched begin a life together.
